Nofel gyffrous wedi'i lleoli ar lannau Mersi yn ystod y 1920au gan awdures o Gaerdydd.

A gripping and moving saga set in 1920s Merseyside by an author from Cardiff.
I found this book very easy to read; this is the type of book anyone could take on holiday for the beach or spend a rainy winter's afternoon reading from cover to cover. You do not have to work out any complicated plot or refer to a dictionary to try and translate any of the dialogue.

Most of the story is condensed on the back cover of the book, which I found a little disappointing as this only left a couple of surprises towards the end of the story.

The story moved along at a very nice pace, there were no long, involved descriptions or graphic details of certain situations, which contributed to making it such an easy read.

Patsy suffered a lot throughout the story and you found yourself hoping that she could find a little joy, but each time she appeared to be near happiness she would be struck by another tragedy. The story starts in the early 1920s and describes how hard it must have been for most people to survive, let alone a young girl who found herself pregnant and unmarried, with a mother who had abandoned her and never really loved her. Patsy found that she has to rely on the help of friends and neighbours to survive.

I would pass this book on to any of my friends to read.
