Cyfrol yn bwrw golwg ar natur a chymunedau Mers Cymru yn yr oesoedd canol. Erbyn 1300 yr oedd ardal eang a adwaenid fel y Mers wedi'i ffurfio rhwng Cymru a Lloegr, ardal a oedd yn cynnwys tua deugain arglwyddiaeth gastellog ar hyd y ffin, a hefyd ar hyd de Cymru. Yr oedd y Mers felly yn nodwedd amlwg iawn o'r tirlun gwleidyddol am ganrifoedd.

A book exploring the nature and communities of the Welsh Marches in the middle ages. By 1300, a Marcher region had been created between England and Wales, consisting of about 40 castle-centred lordships extending along the Anglo-Welsh border and also across southern Wales. The March of Wales thus formed a highly distinctive part of the political geography for centuries.
Bywgraffiad Awdur:

Gwybodaeth Bellach:
By 1300, a Marcher region had been created between England and Wales, consisting of about forty castle-centered lordships extending along the Anglo-Welsh border and also across southern Wales. The March of Wales thus formed a highly distinctive part of the political geography of Britian for much of the Middle Ages. Expressions like 'the Welsh marches' are today used rather vaguely to refer to the Anglo-Welsh borders.

'This is a well-written study which is full of interesting information about the people who were involved in the history of the March, in various capacities. In his introduction, the author hopes that his study will stimulate further research and discussion on the history of the Welsh March. This fascinating book should make that wish a distinct possibility.'
