Dyma'r drydedd o dair cyfrol yn ymwneud â hanes Cymru. Bydd o ddiddordeb mawr i fyfyrwyr ac unrhyw un arall sy'n ymddiddori yn hanes y bedwaredd ganrif ar bymtheg.

The third volume in a series beginning with 1485. This invaluable textbook offers a major new study of the principal changes of this dynamic era. The first half studies the period 1815-1850 in considerable detail, while the second half considers the major changes that occurred after 1850.
Wales saw major changes in the nineteenth century. This book looks at those changes and their impact on modern Wales. Evans looks at the changes affecting various aspects of Welsh culture, including industrialisation, agriculture, religion and education. He divides these areas into two sections for the most part, looking at the developments before and after the mid-nineteenth century, which is a good place to mark the turning point in cultural developments. There is also a chapter entitled ‘The Social Scene’, in which he examines other issues that need to be considered in order to gain a clear picture of Wales during this period.

The chapters are concise, but give a thorough overview of the changes occurring in each area, with a list of resources for further reading at the end. The language used is clear and easy to understand, and makes the book very readable. It is an excellent book for any student of Welsh history, and provides a good starting place for further learning.

A History of Wales 1815-1906 is the third volume in a series beginning with 1485. This invaluable textbook offers a major new study of the principal changes of this dynamic era. The first half studies the period 1815-1850 in considerable detail while the second half considers the major changes that occurred after 1850. The chapters are organized in such a way as to outline the main industrial, social, political and cultural changes of the century. Each chapter contains a comprehensive reading list for those wishing to continue their studies.

“Gareth Evans maintains the standards set by his predecessors and provides a comprehensive framework for sixth form and college students studying this crucial century in Welsh history...The material in each section is presented clearly and concisely and the main developments are effectively outlined...The book should therefore enjoy a wide appeal for schools throughout Wales. This is the first major text book which covers Welsh history in the nineteenth century. Students and teachers hard pressed with the substantial re- organization of the National Curriculum owe Gareth Evans a debt for this volume. It makes as important contribution to extending the means by which the whole range of students indeed anyone with an interest in Welsh history, may investigate that history.”
