Mae'r llyfr hwn yn darlunio'r newidiadau a welwyd yn y modd y mae rheilffyrdd de Cymru yn cael eu rhedeg oddi ar ganol y 1990au. Mae'n cynnwys amrywiaeth o olygfeydd a rhai o'r tirweddau harddaf yng ngwledydd Prydain. Rhoddir sylw i reilffyrdd yng Nghasnewydd, Caerdydd, Pen-y-bont ar Ogwr, Port Talbot, Castell-nedd ac Abertawe.

This book reflects the changing face of railway operation in south Wales since the mid-1990s and includes a wide range of railway scenes from some of the loveliest landscapes in the UK. The author encompasses a shot from every working branch lines in south Wales, and covers all of the main classes of locomotive and unit that could have been seen in the time period stated.
Railways are always a source of great interest. Adrian Kenny’s book gives a representative overview of the railways of south Wales during the last decade. Change is inevitable and ongoing, the effects of which can clearly be seen across the rail network. The author has set out the book in much the same way as one might plan a trip, stating, ‘The reader will be taken on a journey starting in the east, then heading slowly west, stopping off at most branch lines or valley routes along the way.’ The journey is packed with information on the variety of freight and passenger trains and their operation, the research for which must have been extensive.

The 128 pages of this book are filled with information on railways that rail enthusiasts and historians alike will find invaluable. In addition, Kenny's excellent photographs illustrate them all, taken across the region, photographed imaginatively and in many instances set against the beautiful scenery that abounds in this part of the world.

An outstanding book and one which is sure to have a great appeal.
