This well illustrated book is edited and largely written by Andrew Hignell, club statistician and historian, with player interviews interspersing the text and adding piquancy to the narrative. It concentrates on the many successes achieved in that era, above all in one-day cricket but also with a County Championship won. The AXA Equity and Law League was won in 1993, the County Championship in 1997 and both Divisions 2 and 1 of the Norwich Union League in 2001 and 2002, together with an appearance in the Benson and Hedges Cup Final in 2000. This record explains and justifies the title of the book.
The text is thorough with observational and insightful players comments and provides an excellent record of the era. There is also a foreword by Don Shepherd and short articles by Mike Kasprowicz, John Derrick, Steve Watkin and Steve James.
In his wider brief, Chief Executive Mike Fatkin explains the setting up of the infrastructure and the policy and contribution of such a positive nature of Chairman Tony Lewis, legend Viv Richards and captain Alan Butcher. A nostalgic book in which to wallow in winter evenings and recall glorious summer days Canterbury in 1993 and 2002, Taunton with the peerless innings of Matthew Maynard in 1997 or that defeat by Surrey by 9 runs only when 867 runs were scored in the C&G game at the Oval in 2002.
This book is an in house publication so that it is, perhaps, over subjective, but it is nevertheless an enthralling and indulgent read recommended to Glamorgan members and supporters.
