This clever title refers not only to the real fire that occurs at the start of the book, but also to the combustible nature of the disagreement between Gwenno and her father over his smoking habit.
The story of her campaign to get him to give up smoking has been skilfully translated, and the interaction between the well-drawn characters is described in lively, idiomatic language with a Welsh flavour. Although forcefully conveyed, the message does not hamper the flow of the story, and should be absorbed naturally by new readers who will be attracted by the colourful cover and amusing, cartoon-like illustrations.
