A detailed and thorough analysis of the history and current situation of the media in Wales, including chapters on radio, television, the press, cinema and media policy relating to Wales.

Dadansoddiad manwl a thrylwyr o hanes a sefyllfa bresennol y cyfryngau yng Nghymru, yn cynnwys penodau ar y radio, teledu, y wasg, y sinema a pholisïau'n ymwneud â'r cyfryngau yng Nghymru.
If you have an interest in any aspect of the media in Wales then this book is indispensable. The Media in Wales is a comprehensive survey of every aspect of the industry in this country, putting it in an economic, historical and cultural context.

It's a study that's long overdue. The story of the development of Welsh media is a fascinating one with linguistic, geographical and political factors adding to its complexity. The three authors have tackled the subject in a methodical and logical way, breaking it down into manageable sections. The book is very contemporary and relevant, for example looking at the development of the internet and its implications for Wales. It also throws up some interesting questions such as whether the market-driven television world of today can sustain a Welsh-language channel.

The Media in Wales is an academic work and not a book that realistically is going to be read in one sitting. But it's perfect for dipping into, a task made easier thanks to its very good index. If you've ever wondered how the media in Wales came to look the way it does, then look no further than this book for the answer.
