We are thrown into the flurry of young Lauren’s Christmas at her uncle’s home, which provides a winter refuge for funfair characters! The house isn’t a big enough stage, though, for Dennis the Skeleton who has hopes of starring in a major rôle in the theatre. He sees his opportunity for showing off his talents in the forthcoming community pantomime, Aladdin, but how does a bony character like him have a chance?

This seasonal story has all the essential elements of a lively adventure: daring, mystery, magic, suspense, an evil doctor, and even hopes of a romance! The plot has such energy and excitement that we feel we are on a roller-coaster fairground ride ourselves. The detailed illustrations enhance the whole comic, frenetic effect!

At the end, we feel we’ve been an audience, booing, hissing and cheering everyone along.
