Dylan is the only boy living in the Welsh town of Manod; when a mysterious convoy of lorries trundles up the misty mountainside towards a disused mine, Dylan is confounded. Who are these people - and what have they got to hide? A story inspired by the contents of London's National Gallery stored in Welsh slate mines during World War II. Play Audio

Dylan yw'r unig fachgen sy'n byw ym Manod, a phan ddaw lorïau mawr i fyny'r llechwedd i'w bentref y mae mewn penbleth. Pwy yw'r bobl hyn - a beth yw eu cyfrinach? Stori a ysbrydolwyd gan wagio'r Oriel Genedlaethol, Llundain, a symud ei holl drysorau i ogofau chwareli gogledd Cymru yn ystod yr Ail Ryfel Byd. Clip Sain
Dylan Hughes and his family live at the Oasis Garage in Manod, North Wales. Although banned from helping with the cars since accidentally confusing engine oil with anti-freeze, he tries his best to be of use to his father by keeping a log of all the cars that visit the garage. He loves football, although he doesn’t have anyone to play with since he is the last remaining boy in the village. He also loves Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles, whom he honours by naming his mother’s chicks after them.

Dylan’s life will never be the same again after the events that unfold following the visits of a complete stranger, Lester, to Manod (in his steel grey BMW X5, top speed 155 mph). This is, in itself, a mystery as Manod is not sign-posted (it not being a funding priority as far as the local council is concerned). What is Lester’s interest in Manod’s bleak slate mountain, and why are there fifteen white vans that accompany him? Dylan is determined to find out – or, at least, get a game of football!

If there is ever a book that you must read, this is it! No idle boast, it is filled with deadpan humour, fantastically created and credible characters, and a wonderfully told story. You will laugh and you will cry, but one thing is certain, you will not regret reading it.

Framed is, quite simply, stunning!
