A lively collection of original rapping rhymes about various characters from Wales and beyond, such as Twm Sion Cati, the Mari Lwyd, Jemima Nicholas, Robin Hood, Charles Dickens and Henry VIII. 9 black-and-white illustrations.

Casgliad bywiog o rigymau rap yn ymwneud â chymeriadau amrywiol o Gymru a thu hwnt megis Twm Sion Cati, y Fari Lwyd, Jemima Nicholas, Robin Hood, Charles Dickens a Harri'r VIII. 9 llun du-a -gwyn.
A lively collection of rhythmic poetry, covering various topics from holiday-makers in Tenerife, to the historical Battle of Colby Moor, to rugby at the Millennium Stadium. The poems provide information about events children may well have heard of without knowing any details. Particularly useful are the notes at the end of the book, which explain specific words or historical events.

The language is simple and clear, and phrases are often repeated. The meaning bounces along with the rhythm, although in places it does stutter slightly. The book would appeal to children from about seven to twelve.

I imagine these are even more effective read aloud, and I fully intend to try performing some of them with one of my classes! It is a book to dip into, and, as the author suggests in his profile, it could well inspire children to have a go themselves.
