Cat Weatherill is an experienced author and gifted storyteller, having appeared at many prestigious festivals across the UK and Europe, and has performed her work on various BBC Radio shows, including Front Row, The Verb, Go 4 It and The Big Toe Show. Jaco the Leek is her first story for Pont Books.

Pembrokeshire artist Brett Breckon illustrates the story wonderfully, with comic line drawings that capture the humour of the text and hold young readers attention throughout. In honour of our Patron Saint, Pont Books have published Jaco the Leek, which tells the story of one boy’s unusual preparations for St David’s Day on March 1st!

Jaco and his brother Cai are tired of dressing up in the same old costumes every St David’s Day. But whilst Cai decides that this year, he’ll stick to his faithful rugby shirt, Jaco has other ideas. Jaco wants to BE a leek! So he goes to sleep with one wish in mind, and, sure enough, the next morning an amazing transformation has taken place - Jaco IS a leek! And a smelly one at that! But wishing can be a risky business, especially when it involves changing shape! How will Jaco get his pants on when he's got no legs? Will this St David’s Day be the best one yet? Or will his new body cause more problems that he’d ever imagined?
