A darkly humorous novel with a bitter take on the modern media cult of celebrity. Taking in themes of reality TV, mass communications (including blogging and tabloid journalism), sexuality and 21st-century life, David Llewellyn has created an enjoyable and disturbing tale of conspiracy, red carpets, paranoia and daytime television, set in London's Docklands.

Nofel dywyll a digrif am obsesiwn pobl gydag enwogion a'r cyfryngau. Ceir yma blethiad o themâu, megis teledu realaeth, cyfathrebu torfol (yn cynnwys blogio a newyddiaduraeth tabloid), rhywioldeb a bywyd yr unfed ganrif ar hugain. Mae'r awdur yn creu darlun o fywyd yn nociau Llundain sy'n llawn cynllwyn, carpedi coch, paranoia a rhaglenni teledu yn ystod y dydd.
Further Information:
Everything is Sinister is a darkly humorous modern novel with a bitter take on the modern media cult of celebrity. Taking in the themes of reality TV, mass communication (including blogging and tabloid journalism), sexuality and 21st century city life, 29-year-old David Llewellyn has created a superbly enjoyable and disturbing tale of conspiracy, red carpets, paranoia and daytime television, set in London's Docklands.

Ed Raynes is the showbiz correspondent for Britain's most popular tabloid, The Voice, read by over 20,000,000 daily. In the sweltering, tinderbox summer of 2010, with the Olympic village construction site on his doorstep and a terrible, shocking secret known only to himself, a Sloany television executive, and the winner of the country's highest rating reality show Lockdown, Ed's world begins to crumble. Ed becomes a recluse, his only exposure to the outside world via TV and the internet, an unending assault of increasingly bizarre advertisements and reality TV shows, with only a tenuous relationship with reality itself. Showbiz gossip and the bitchy, hedonistic world of the newsroom soon transform into a nightmarish reworking of Conrad's Heart Of Darkness, played out in the concrete and glass jungle of Canary Wharf.

Review:

“Llewellyn’s compelling novel is original and aggressive, and despite its scattergun approach hits most of the moving targets it aims for.”
