From the lush green fairways of the Celtic Manor to the wonderful links with the castle backdrop of the world famous Royal St David's in Harlech, this book shows what Wales has to offer golfing fans.
As an avid golfer, who has had the pleasure of playing most of the courses in this book, it clearly appears to me that Wales is an undiscovered nation with regard to golf.
What could be better than a weekend in north Wales; playing golf at the links in Conwy on the Friday, followed by a splendid meal at the Castle Hotel in Conwy, and then travelling to Harlech on the Saturday to take on the dunes at the Royal St David's course in Harlech? I suppose what could match this would be a weekend in south Wales, playing two of the best links courses in the area, Pyle and Kenfig, and then, of course, one of the jewels in the Welsh crown, the Royal Porthcawl golf club, where Tiger Woods was defeated in a Walker Cup match in the nineties. These two are a real test of golf and be prepared on a windy day to have plenty of balls in the bag!
There is so much on offer within the book for golfing fans but it is is a shame that the book isn't longer, as we could have then included other gems in Wales, such as St Pierre in Chepstow and the Rolls of Monmouth, just to name two.
Wales is a haven of quality golf courses and we need to make people aware of this. I honestly feel that this book is a step in the right direction. A fantastic read.
Bendigedig!
Clive Davies
